Matthew was born in 1984, one of four brothers;- his twin John; older brother Simon; and half-brother Jimmy. Parents Ian and Karen owned and ran a livery and showjumping yard in the Chilterns where Matt grew up. Matt has always had a passion and natural affinity for horses. Matt has worked in almost every possible equestrian field;- spending time at the National Stud then later setting up and running a stud, working at a successful racehorse training yard being assistant trainer with Charlie Mann and helping his brothers who are both professional show-jumpers. Matt’s father sadly passed away in 2009, meaning that he and twin John now run the family business, which continues to be a successful and busy livery, breaking and competition yard. Matt himself is a very good rider, and his specialty is bringing on young horses from the ground; a key part of breaking them in. Because of the experience Matt has gained through working with horses his whole life he understands the needs of both horse and rider at every level, and is able to work well with both to provide high quality and safe equipment. Matt has been trained by Derek Joy, who himself has over 50 years experience making and repairing tack of all types. Although Derek has sold his tack shop near Bicester and is now trying to take life a bit easier he is still busy and always on hand to help Matt where needed. From hand making double bridles for top Dressage riders, to improving the fit of a child’s ponies saddle, Matt’s professional and personable attitude will mean that both you and your horse receive a five star service. At the begining of 2013 Matt moved into a workshop based in Long Crendon, due to a large demand of saddle fittings Matt can only get into the workshop Friday 10-5.
